SURPRISES

Neglected grasslands

In the moong fields of Sokhalia, among the farmers and the cattle, there jumps a tiny bird; a Lesser florican, madly in love, to attract the females

Tiny, isolated pockets of tropical rainforests

Only found in pockets of Western Ghats mountains, Lion-tailed macaques do look like a Lion for their mane and tail. Unfortunately like Lions they are also in the danger of being extinct

Ancient lava hills

Jawai hills, also known as the leopard hills, in Western India, is a remarkable place where locals and leopards have peacefully coexisted for centuries like nowhere else in the world

Arid desert

With less than 150 living, once in the running to become India’s national bird, Great Indian Bustards, found in the Thar desert of Western India, is now on the brink of extinction

An wet bio-diversity hotspot

Perched at a height of 710m above sea level, Amboli, extremely rich in Herpetofauna, wildflowers and birds, has contributed generously to India’s bio-diversity
